Jeweler Standards and Compliance Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026

This policy sets out what JewelersBid expects from every approved jeweler. It is the same acknowledgment a jeweler agrees to when applying, restated here so customers and jewelers can both refer to it at any time.

1. Approval is not a verification

JewelersBid manually reviews every jeweler application before approving it. “Approved to participate” means JewelersBid has reviewed the information the business provided and has not (yet) found a reason to reject it. It is not a statement that JewelersBid has independently verified that business's license, insurance, identity, or any other claim, unless that specific check was actually performed and is recorded on file. Approval may be suspended or removed at any time.

2. Legal and regulatory compliance

An approved jeweler is solely responsible for complying with every applicable legal requirement for any in-person purchase made through JewelersBid, including — without limitation — business licensing, buyer identification, recordkeeping, applicable hold periods, stolen-property-reporting-database submission (for example, LeadsOnline), precious-metals-purchasing regulations, consumer-protection law, and tax obligations. JewelersBid only introduces customer and jeweler — it never takes possession of jewelry, never processes payment, and is never the buyer of record.

3. Honest offers and descriptions

A jeweler must give honest, good-faith offers and item descriptions based on what was actually submitted, and must not misrepresent its business, experience, or the reasons for an offer.

4. No pressure tactics

A jeweler must not pressure a customer to accept an offer, to move quickly, or to forgo comparing other offers. A customer is always free to decline, take time, or walk away with no obligation.

5. No silent changes to an offer

A jeweler must not silently reduce, withdraw, or otherwise change an offer without explanation. If, after lawfully inspecting, weighing, testing, or authenticating an item in person, a jeweler needs to adjust the offer, the jeweler must clearly explain the specific reason to the customer before the customer decides whether to proceed.

6. Protecting customer information and private media

A jeweler may view a customer's request details and private photos/video only for the purpose of preparing an offer or completing a transaction they are actually eligible to be involved in. A jeweler must not download, redistribute, publish, or otherwise share a customer's private photos, video, contact information, or request details outside of that purpose.

7. Consequences for not meeting these standards

JewelersBid may investigate a reported concern and may, at its discretion, suspend or remove a jeweler's ability to participate in the marketplace for failing to meet any of the standards above. Continued approval is not guaranteed and is not an endorsement of a jeweler's business practices.
